Speaking on the Transfer Window Podcast, journalist Ian McGarry has shared what a source has told him about Everton’s recent recruitment meeting.
McGarry says that he knows someone who was involved in Everton’s recruitment meeting, and his source was shocked to see that super-agent Kia Joorabchian was also in the meeting.
“Duncan, we both know someone who was in a meeting with Everton about recruitment and he was surprised to see that Kia Joorabchian was also in that meeting with club executives, because he has that kind of influence. It has been a subject of contention about his relationship with Arsenal’s Sporting Director Edu and the fact he has done several transfers to Arsenal in the last 12 months,” McGarry said.
It’s unknown why Joorabchian was involved in this meeting, but we think we can have a pretty good guess.
Everton have been strongly linked with a move for Philippe Coutinho in recent days, who is one of Joorabchian’s most high-profile clients, so it would make sense for Everton to be discussing that move with him.
Whether or not the Toffees move for Coutinho or another of Joorabchian’s clients this summer remains to be seen.
