It has been announced that Max McMillan has left Leeds United.

League One outfit Fleetwood Town confirmed on Friday that they had signed the 18-year-old Thorp Arch prospect on a permanent basis.

McMillan was an ever-present figure in Leeds’ Under-18 side this season and some fans of the Elland Road club have admitted that they’re surprised to see him let go.

Here’s what some Whites supporters are saying on Twitter:

With United being a Premier League side these days, it’s more difficult than ever for youngsters to progress into the senior side.

Marcelo Bielsa took a gamble on the likes of Jack Clarke during his first season, with the now-Tottenham winger being older than McMillan was at the time of his breakthrough into Leeds’ senior selection.

But with greater responsibility comes less room to experiment, though if McMillan is made of the right stuff then he’ll progress no matter what happens.
