Tottenham Hotspur don’t even have a manager in place yet, but they’re still being linked with a surprise transfer.

Spurs sacked Jose Mourinho last week, and Daniel Levy’s focus will be on finding a permanent replacement before looking towards any signings.

Still, the Daily Mail report that Spurs want to sign Celtic midfielder Ismaila Soro, claiming that Tottenham have picked out Soro as a holding midfielder who could bolster their squad.

The 22-year-old has only started 11 league games for Celtic this season, and whilst he has shown potential, he hasn’t yet become a key player at Parkhead.

Tottenham’s interest is surprising for many reasons, but Soro may well fancy a move to North London if Spurs firm up their interest with a bid this summer.

When speaking to The Scottish Sun after his move from Bnei Yehuda to Celtic was confirmed in January 2020, Soro admitted that he wanted to play in the Premier League once his time with the Bhoys was done.

Soro picked out Liverpool as his dream club, but made it clear that playing in the Premier League is his ultimate goal, and that could now come with Tottenham.

A move to Liverpool right now seems unlikely, but who knows – maybe heading to Tottenham and impressing there could eventually lead him to Anfield.

Celtic will surely be desperate to keep hold of Soro given that Scott Brown is leaving this summer, but Tottenham present a very real opportunity for him to realise his Premier League dream much sooner than anyone expected.
