Jack Grealish told his England press conference that he was ‘surprised’ at the lack of individual awards Tottenham striker Harry Kane picked up this season.

The Spurs hitman was hailed by the Aston Villa superstar for having ‘one of the best seasons ever’ after he finished the recently concluded Premier League campaign as the top-scorer and top assist-maker.

Kevin de Bruyne recently was awarded PFA’s Player of the Year, whilst Ruben Dias was named the Premier League’s Player of the Season, but nothing for Tottenham’s number nine despite a stellar campaign.

Given the season Kane had in Spurs colours, that shocked Grealish that he wasn’t rewarded, but he still hailed his fellow countryman for what he produced.

“You come here and play with the likes of Harry Kane, who has just had one of the best seasons ever as a Premier League footballer,” said Grealish.

“I don’t know how he didn’t get more awards than he did, with the most goals and the most assists. So, it’s a pleasure to come here and play with these kinds of players.

“When you come here there is no better person to look at than Harry Kane, to see the way he looks after himself and stuff like that – like I said, I think he’s had one of the best Premier League’s, not that I have seen, but he’s right up there.

“And I am surprised he hasn’t won a few more awards.”

It has been well-documented that Spurs could have signed Grealish’s talents many years ago, but such a deal not going through will remain a nightmare for those in the North London boardroom in years to come.

And whilst Spurs fans can only dream to see a link-up with Grealish and Kane on the domestic scene now, they will hopefully see plenty of it at Euro 2020.

Kane is an obvious starter for the Three Lions, and given that Grealish created 70 chances from open play this season – only second behind Bruno Fernandes (77) despite missing 13 games – then Tottenham’s academy product will surely be pushing for another Golden Boot with him in the side.
