‘Surpasses anything’: Natalie Sawyer makes claim about Brentford’s 3-3 draw with Liverpool

Natalie Sawyer has claimed that Brentford’s 3-3 draw against Liverpool on Saturday ‘surpasses anything’, as she told talkSPORT (26/09/21 at 6:15 am).

The talkSPORT presenter, who is a Brentford fan, shared that her side’s performance, atmosphere and occasion against Liverpool tops anything.

The Bees deserve huge credit because they were forward-thinking against the Reds, they put Jurgen Klopp’s men under pressure on many occasions and deserved the point.

Brentford started life in the Premier League by blowing away Arsenal on the opening night of the new campaign.

And this start by Thomas Frank’s side, which sees them sitting in the top ten after six games, is one that they deserve and Sawyer explained what it was like.

“It was a game I went to with a bit of nerves,” said Sawyer. “There have been a lot of games this season, where I have been a little bit nervous about.

“Going to Crystal Palace. Going to Villa and even Wolves, just because you felt like you are due a hammering. That’s why I was worried, at some point.

“We are coming up against Liverpool and wow. It was drama and end-to-end. As a fan, it was so entertaining.

“I have been to all of the games, so far, and that first game of the season against Arsenal, which was brilliant because it was our first Premier League match. The atmosphere was incredible.

“But that game against Liverpool, for me, surpasses anything. It was fantastic. I felt we gave Liverpool a good game and matched them, at times.”

A number of players stood out on Saturday for the Bees, including boyhood Liverpool fan Ivan Toney.

The hard-hitting striker was going up against one of the best defenders in the world in Virgil van Dijk, but he gave him and Joel Matip a pretty tough time.

Toney is one of a number of players that has started the season in a bright fashion, and over the weekend, he proved that he belonged in England’s top-flight.

Gareth Southgate is due to name his England squad for forthcoming internationals on Thursday and some will argue that Toney deserves a shot because he has been incredible from the get-go.
