Surely Tottenham-linked Ryan Sessegnon can’t leave for £100m if Fulham go down

Tottenham Hotspur should hope that Fulham wind up being relegated.

We’re less than two months away from the January transfer window and Ryan Sessegnon to Tottenham Hotspur is one story that is bound to re-surface.

Spurs have been heavily linked with a move for Sessegnon in recent years, with The Sun reporting last month that the 18-year-old – likened to Gareth Bale – is now valued at around £100 million by Fulham.

If that’s an accurate price then it seems unlikely that Tottenham will be in the reckoning, unless they offload a Dele Alli or a Harry Kane before then, but relegation for the Cottagers could change things entirely.

Slavisa Jokanovic’s side posted a dismal performance in last night’s 1-0 defeat away at Huddersfield, leaving them rock bottom of the Premier League table.

They are only one point adrift of safety at the moment, but based on last night’s showing the West Londoners could be in big, big trouble unless they significantly improve.

If Fulham wind up going down, they certainly can’t demand a nine-figure sum for a player who would have only a year to go on his contract by next summer.

Tottenham could potentially get Sessegnon – who, according to Football London in 2017, had his ‘heart set’ on a move to North London – for considerably less than £100 million, if their fellow Londoners return to the Championship.

The youngster, who managed 15 Championship goals last term, is yet to light up the top flight after only scoring once in 10 Premier League outings thus far, but he remains a huge talent nonetheless and one whose value could skyrocket under Mauricio Pochettino.
