Everton ended a seven-match winless run which stretched back to December 18 in all competitions when they beat Leicester City 2-1 in the Premier League.

Yet the Toffees’ other big signing during the month, Cenk Tosun, was sat on the bench and failed to make it onto the pitch with Oumar Niasse starting upfront and being replaced by Dominic Calvert-Lewin.
Some would argue that the decision from manager Sam Allardyce was proven to be the correct one when the Merseysiders won, but yet it seems strange to leave out a striker who has played just two matches so far and cost £27m (BBC) less than a month ago.

In his native Turkey Tosun was prolific for Besiktas, scoring 64 goals in 142 matches during four years at the Istanbul club and while he is yet to net for his new team, surely consistent game time and trust will help the 26-year-old do that?
Allardyce’s men face the tough prospect of a trip to Arsenal tomorrow (February 3) in their next outing in the English top flight, but it is one they could also realistically win and their star signing surely must return to the starting XI to help them achieve that?
