Tottenham linked with £10m move for David Brooks but if Fulham’s Ryan Sessegnon is reportedly worth £50m then surely Sheffield United can demand more?
Tottenham Hotspur are interested in signing David Brooks from Sheffield United and according to the Sun are ready to pay £10m plus extras for the youngster.
Brooks has impressed for the Blades this season having been given regular first team opportunities by manager Chris Wilder after progressing from the academy.
The 20-year-old has played 22 times in all competitions for United in 2017/18 and despite operating as an attacking midfielder, Spurs view the Wales international as a long-term replacement for striker Harry Kane.
So with Brooks so highly rated does £10m seem a little cheap for the South Yorkshire side to sell one of their most exciting prospects for – especially in a currently inflated transfer market?
For instance, Ryan Sessegnon of Fulham has been valued at £50m by some, with former Cottagers midfielder Jimmy Bullard the latest to do so when writing in his BetBright column.
While Sessegnon is a unique talent who is three years younger than Brooks and yet is more established with 67 first team appearances for the West Londoners and 13 Championship goals this season alone, the difference in valuation is still stark.
The Bramall Lane starlet is under contract until 2021 after signing a new four-year deal last October so the club are under no pressure to sell, so should perhaps drive a harder bargain if Tottenham make a move.
