Surely Liverpool won’t let Suso go to bring in 11/11 midfielder…or will they?

Liverpool have again been linked with Ivan Rakitic, with Spanish winger Suso also tipped to be part of the deal.

Earlier this month, we ran a poll asking Liverpool fans which player currently on loan deserved a chance in Brendan Rodgers’ first-team next season.

Considering the number of young Reds out on loan, it could have been a close-run thing, but one starlet won by an absolute landslide – the majestic Suso.

It is clear Liverpool fans rate the Spanish winger extremely highly, which is no surprise given his showings both for the Reds last season and for Almeria this campaign. But the latest story from Spain suggests the 20-year-old could soon be swapping England for his homeland permanently.

Spanish newspaper Sport has claimed that Liverpool are outlining a proposal that would see Suso head to Sevilla along with €15million in exchange for their midfielder Ivan Rakitic.

The 26-year-old Croatian is an outstanding talent himself, as his 11 goals and 11 assists in La Liga this season testify. But would Brendan Rodgers really sanction such a move? Bringing in a marvellous player, yes, but losing one of great potential in the process?

Suso fits the Anfield ethos – a young star who already has plenty of experience and who did not look out of place in the first-team last season.

Rakitic is something of an assist-king, and his addition would make the Reds stronger as they almost certainly head back into Champions League action next season.

But we just cannot see Suso being part of the deal. Can you?
