Celtic midfielder Tom Rogic made a mockery of his reported £4 million price-tag against Rangers.
Australian outlet The World Game reported last month that Celtic valued Tom Rogic at around £4 million.
Considering he has been one of Celtic’s best players in recent seasons and has impressed on the European stage, eyebrows were raised over what seemed to be a very low figure.
But the Australia international’s goal against Rangers on Sunday should make that price-tag look even more ridiculous now.
Rogic got Celtic back into the game with a stunning curling effort to cancel out Josh Windass’s opener, laying the foundations for Brendan Rodgers’s side to ultimately win the game 3-2.
The 25-year-old midfielder has endured an injury-hit 2018 so far, but his goal and performance was a reminder over how important he is for the Hoops and, even if he only has a year left on his contract, Rodgers could justifiably ask for a lot more than £4 million.
He is a massive player for the Parkhead club and one who has the potential to follow the likes of Victor Wanyama and Virgil van Dijk to becoming big Premier League players in the future, if he takes that path.
Celtic fans would hate to lose him, but they can rest easy in the knowledge that selling him would bring in a lot more than a paltry £4 million.
