Surely Arsenal winger Oxlade-Chamberlain must go to Euro 2012

The young winner helped tear apart Blackburn Rovers on Saturday- is an international call-up beckoning?

Now we’re not trying to tell Fabio Capello how to do his job, but…

If Oxlade-Chamberlain does not get a chance for England, he really is missing a trick.

Since being let loose by Arsene Wenger last month he has slotted into the first team like a seasoned professional.

His performance at the Emirates on Saturday was proof that Gooners have reasons to feel positive about the future, whatever happens between now and May.

Oxlade-Chamberlain is fast, powerful and direct, and most of all he has an end product.

So many young players from Theo Walcott to Cristiano Ronaldo had problems in their early years with adding an end product to their games. Oxlade-Chamberlain looks to have nailed it already.

Critics would suggest Walcott is yet to master it, but given his equally dynamic display on Saturday, perhaps Oxlade-Chamberlain’s breakthrough is also bringing out the best in Walcott.

The teenager deserves a chance in England’s upcoming friendly at the end of the month against Holland.

Beyond that Euro 2012 is a realistic goal.

Competition for wide berths is tough, Ashley Young, Adam Johnson, Theo Walcott, and even Daniel Sturridge could be played wide.

But Oxlade-Chamberlain has shown enough to suggest he can add something different.

There is often a breakthrough star at major championships with England, Gascoigne in 1990, Owen in 1998; will 2012 be the year of The Ox?
