Arsenal fans believe that Mason Greenwood’s decision to pull out of England duty presents an opportunity for Bukayo Saka.
Greenwood won’t be at the European Championships due to a pre-existing injury problem, which means that Gareth Southgate will now only have to cut six players.
Greenwood looked to stand a good chance of being included in the final 26-man squad, and England may now be looking for another attacker, which is where Arsenal’s Saka could fit in.
Saka was listed as a forward on England’s official squad list, adding hope that Gareth Southgate views him as an attacking player.
And Arsenal fans think that Saka’s chances of going are increasing today.
What we know?
The England squad is set to be announced at 5pm today.
Jesse Lingard has also missed out on a spot in the final squad, according to the latest reports in the Athletic, while Aaron Ramsdale will almost certainly be cut.
Saka now seems to face what could be a shoot-out with Aston Villa’s Ollie Watkins for the final slot.
Watkins would offer England more power and aerial presence up top.
But Saka could provide cover in a number of positions, and that may just give the Arsenal man an advantage.
