Harry Redknapp has emerged as a surprise contender for the Leeds United hotseat.
According to The Mirror, the ex-Tottenham boss has signalled that he would be open to taking charge at Elland Road, and while this may sound ridiculous, let’s not forget that Neil Warnock has just gone back to Huddersfield Town.
Redknapp could well be the next Leeds manager, and this would represent a huge step away from the model the Whites have had in recent years where they’ve made forward-thinking appointments such as Marcelo Bielsa and Jesse Marsch.
This is epitomised by the fact that Redknapp once said that he couldn’t get his head around Bielsa a few years ago, describing him as ‘a strange one’.

Redknapp didn’t understand Bielsa
The gaffer spoke at an audience in Leeds a few years ago and his comments were covered by TalkSPORT at the time.
“I’m not sure what will happen they seem to have a couple of good wins and then a bad result,” Redknapp said.
“The manager is a strange one I can’t quite work him out. He’s supposed to be a genius and he probably is, his record is good, I’m not sure what will happen but I think they will get up – it is an open division.”
This won’t work
While Marcelo Bielsa may not have been the Leeds United manager for 12 months now, this squad is still very much built in his image.
That’s why Leeds have been looking at Bielsa disciples in their search for a new manager with Carlos Corberan, Andoni Iraola and Marcelo Gallardo all considered.
Redknapp says he didn’t get Bielsa, and therefore, this is the wrong squad for him to be taking charge of as many of these players’ footballing educations were shaped by the Argentine.
Perhaps it’s best off if Redknapp doesn’t decide to go for this job.
