Arsenal defender Jurrien Timber has been labelled a ‘superstar’ after making his debut for the Gunners overnight.

Jurrien Timber has made his first appearance for Arsenal and is receiving plaudits on Instagram.

Arsenal were in pre-season friendly action in the early hours of Thursday morning as they faced the Major League Soccer All-Stars.

Gabriel Jesus and Leandro Trossard scored superb first-half goals to put Arsenal 2-0 up.

Jorginho’s penalty made it 3-0 before Gabriel Martinelli and Kai Havertz added to the scoreline late on.

Arsenal will be delighted with a thumping 5-0 win as Mikel Arteta experimented with his side.

A number of substitutions came throughout the second half with Arteta rotating his players.

That included new signings Jurrien Timber and Declan Rice, who came off the bench for the final 25 minutes of this 5-0 thumping.

Jurrien Timber celebrates Arsenal debut

Timber was brought on for his Arsenal debut having completed a move from Ajax earlier this month.

The Dutchman will bring versatility at the back for Arsenal given his ability to play at right back and centre back.

Timber has now taken to Instagram to celebrate his debut performance, highlighting his ‘first steps’ in an Arsenal shirt.

Timber received messages from a number of players, including brother and Feyenoord midfielder Quinten Timber, who simply stated ‘fire’.

Feyenoord right back Lutsharel Geertruida also chimed in, calling Timber a ‘superstar’.

Fellow Dutch stars Noa Lang, Owen Wijndal, Joshua Zirkzee, Quilindschy Hartman, Devyne Rensch and Tommy St Jago all sent messages to Timber too as the defender received plenty of plaudits.

This was only a cameo for Timber and there will be more important games to come, but he will be delighted to have made a winning start with a clean sheet too.
