Eric Dier has now turned his attentions to agreeing a pre-contract with a foreign side in January to get a free transfer after refusing to leave Tottenham Hotspur this summer.
That is according to talkSPORT, which reports that Dier turned down all opportunities to quit Tottenham this summer. Fulham had explored a deal for the 29-year-old and Spurs proposed including him in a deal to get Llyod Kelly from AFC Bournemouth. But Dier refused to depart.
Despite not being an integral part of Ange Postecoglou’s plans, Dier is prepared to run down his contract in north London. He views departing Spurs as a free agent next summer as a far more appealing prospect. So, he will start to explore pre-contract agreements from January.

Eric Dier refused all transfers away from Tottenham
Dier will be eligible to sign a pre-contract agreement with an overseas club from the turn of the year. His existing terms with Tottenham expire on June 30, 2024 after last extending his deal in July 2020. It takes him to 10 years at Spurs after joining from Sporting Lisbon in 2014.
Tottenham hoped that Dier would accept a transfer away this summer so Postecoglou could invest in a centre-half he wanted. But the 49-cap England defender’s stubbornness saw the Australian’s dreams of signing Fulham’s Tosin Adarabioyo or Chelsea’s Trevoh Chalobah end.
Chairman Daniel Levy was also particularly keen for Tottenham to sell Dier before the end of the summer transfer window. The Athletic noted that Spurs also offered him to Nottingham Forest such was Levy’s desire to avoid keeping their defender in the last year of his contract.

Harry Kane tempted Bayern Munich to target a deal
Tottenham selling Harry Kane to Bayern Munich nearly opened a door for Dier to secure the same transfer route, too. Alex Crook claimed Kane sung Dier’s praises to Der FCB manager Thomas Tuchel. From his praise, Bayern Munich showed tentative interest in Dier’s transfer.
Allianz Arena chiefs may return in January with Dier now keen to agree a pre-contract at the earliest chance. Doing so would see Tottenham get nothing for a player they signed for £4m a decade ago. Dier, who Graham Roberts has called ‘superb’, has also played over 360 times.
