Celtic fans have taken to Twitter to react after the club announced that Dom McKay will join the club on April 19th, before acting as CEO from July 1st.

Peter Lawwell will continue in his current role as CEO until June 30th, before he retires from football.

Between April 19th and that date, McKay will work with Lawwell and the rest of the club’s Executive Team to ensure a smooth transition takes place.

McKay leaves his role as Chief Operating Officer and Chairman of Scottish rugby’s Guinness Pro14, where he’ll experience a similar task in an entirely different sport at Celtic Park.

In our view, this is great news.

It might not sound like a big deal to have McKay through the door early before his actual starting date.

However, this helps everyone at the club remain on the same page, and will also enable McKay to get started immediately on July 1st, having already had a chance to get his feet under the table.

With McKay at Celtic Park early, he could potentially also now have a say in who Neil Lennon’s successor will be.

All the signs suggest that man will be Eddie Howe. The Scottish Sun claim that the ex-Bournemouth manager has already verbally agreed to take the reins in Glasgow.

Let’s see how the Celtic fans on Twitter reacted to the club’s tweet…
