John Terry has shared that both Chelsea and Liverpool played out a ‘great game’ during their 2-2 draw on Sunday, as he posted on Twitter.
The former centre-back added that Chelsea were ’superb’ in the second half after Liverpool took an early 2-0 lead.
A lot of the action and drama unfolded in the first half of a very aggressive natured game, as both teams were well aware that a defeat here may well end their Premier League title hopes.
All four goals were scored during the first period, including a potential Goal of the Season contender from Mateo Kovacic that begged Liverpool back as the ex-Real Madrid man channelled his inner Zinedine Zidane to volley home.
Chelsea legend Terry was watching on and he liked what he saw from his team and the game as a whole.
“Great game of football today,” said Terry. “And a superb second-half performance from us.”
From a potential four-way title race at the start of the season, it’s not even a two-way title race at the start of 2022.
Manchester City will have to channel their inner Newcastle United of the 1990s to blow their ten-point lead now.
Liverpool will feel like they are the closest challengers because they have a game in hand on Pep Guardiola’s men.
Added with that, after the FA Cup matches kick in this week, it’s a small matter of Manchester City facing off against Chelsea, which provides Liverpool with another chance to close that gap.
