Speaking on the Que Golazo Podcast, Fabrizio Romano has been discussing Arsenal’s interest in Pedro Neto.

It has been reported over the past 48 hours that the Gunners are very keen on Neto, and now, Romano has shared just how much the north London club rate the winger.

The journalist states that both Edu and Mikel Arteta are huge admirers of the 22-year-old, claiming that the two Arsenal chiefs consider Neto as a perfect player for their idea of Arsenal’s future.

What’s been said?

Romano shared what he knows about Arsenal’s appreciation of Neto.

“They will sign other players, I think Arteta has been clear on that. They are still short he said. A new winger has always been the priority, they submitted a bid for Raphinha before he joined Barcelona. Now for Pedro Neto, he is the priority he is super appreciated by Edu, the same with Mikel Arteta, they consider him a kind of perfect player for the idea of football they are having, it has already been discussed internally,” Romano said.

Fits the bill

Romano says that Arsenal think that Neto is perfect, and it doesn’t take a genius to figure out why.

Indeed, just look at the players Arsenal are building their team around and you can see how Neto fits into the project.

The likes of Emile Smith Rowe, Bukayo Saka, Gabriel Martinelli, Martin Odegaard and Fabio Vieira will all be key players for Arsenal going forward, and, much like Neto, they’re young, exciting and attacking players.

Neto may not be the most important player at Arsenal upon his arrival, but he certainly fits the bill in terms of what Arsenal have been looking for as of late, and he’s the perfect depth option behind the likes of Saka and Martinelli.

This would be a very on-brand signing from Arsenal if they can get this one over the line.
