‘Super appealing’: Journalist says Liverpool are in the mix to sign player who is ‘like Haaland’

Speaking on BBC Radio Five Live, Raphael Honigstein has been discussing Jude Bellingham and the Englishman’s future.

The teenager is only going from strength to strength over in Germany, and it’s just a matter of time before he moves to one of Europe’s truly elite clubs.

According to Honigstein, there will be a number of clubs queueing up to sign Bellingham this summer, including Liverpool.

Honigstein spoke about the race to sign Bellingham.

“Clubs will be working hard in the background to get in the queue for him,” said Honigstein.

“Everyone will clamour for his signature – Liverpool, Manchester City, Manchester United, Real Madrid. Even Chelsea for whom the idea of having one of the best English players of the next 10 years will be super appealing.”

“Dortmund can no longer hide him. He is the classic English box-to-box general.

“He is one of those players, like Haaland, like Kevin de Bruyne, where they are so good that the system of the club changes with them.

“Whoever misses out on him will be missing out on a generational talent.”

Era-defining

The race to sign Bellingham next summer will certainly be a heated battle, and it may be an era-defining transfer tussle for whoever wins the race.

If Liverpool land the Englishman, their midfield will be set for the next decade with the likes of Harvey Elliott, Fabio Carvalho and Curtis Jones all coming through, while if Real Madrid sign him, the midfield trio of Bellingham, Eduardo Camavinga and Aurelien Tchouameni may be unstoppable for the next decade.

This could well prove to be one of the most important transfer sagas of this generation and Liverpool need to make sure they’re at the very front of this queue.
