Anichebe has had a positive impact in Sunderland’s recent run of good form.
Sunderland forward Victor Anichebe is relishing being a marked man by the side’s opponents, the Chronicle reports.
The Black Cats have experienced something of a renaissance since Anichebe’s has been featuring on a more regular basis – which has seen the side win four of their last seven games.
As well as relieving the goalscoring burden from Jermain Defoe to some extent, the former Everton man has offered a presence on the left hand side, can hold the ball up and provide an outlet.

But Anichebe is starting to come off the flank and provide a bit more movement – to make him harder to mark and to ensure Sunderland can open sides up.
Anichebe is quoted in the Chronicle: “They are trying to stop our left-hand side of attack. That is why I switch sides sometimes because teams are ready for us and are a lot more aggressive with me.
“I am used to it, I just have to be ready. Every game is tough. They are doubling up on me but that is part and parcel of the game. It is a compliment as well.
“Whenever there is a battle, I will be ready for it.

“We are good down the left-hand side but sometimes I feel we need to switch it around more.”
So far, Anichebe has proved to be a very effective signing for David Moyes and his side and they will hope he can help continue their recent revival.
The Black Cats are currently third from bottom, but are just a point from safety as the halfway stage of the season nears.
