Djilobodji hasn’t had the easiest of starts to life at Sunderland.
Sunderland defender Papy Djilobodji has admitted that the Premier League is a lot more difficult than he had expected, the Chronicle reports.
The centre-backs’s start to life at Sunderland hasn’t been a great one as he has been part of a defence that has struggled and made mistakes that have contributed to them sitting at the bottom of the table.

The 27-year-old has vowed to improve, something which everyone connected with the club will go for the team as well as they look to build on their first win of the season at Bournemouth prior to the international break.
Djilobodji is quoted in the Chronicle, saying: “It’s a lot more testing than I had expected or known, especially from having played in France or Germany. It’s the first time I’ve spent any time playing in England, and I do feel that the game is different here.

“As a defender, you need a lot more fighting qualities and a lot more concentration. But you also need discipline in the way you defend.”
Given the side’s injury problems this season, it has been something of a baptism of fire for the summer signing from Chelsea – who didn’t play for the London club, but instead spent the second half of last season on loan in the Bundesliga with Werder Bremen.
Concentration has certainly been one issue at the back for Sunderland this season. At least that’s an area for improvement that has been identified, now they need to see results from work on it in the coming weeks.
