Sunderland loaned goalkeeper Max Stryjek out to National League side Eastleigh and he has made a massive impact.

Sunderland were indebted to Jon McLaughlin as they secured a 2-2 home draw with fellow promotion chasers Peterborough United on Tuesday.

The Scotland international has been a terrific signing since arriving on a free from Hearts, providing that solid presence between the sticks that the Black Cats missed so badly last season.

While McLaughlin has been impressive in the present, Max Stryjek ensures that Sunderland should be in safe hands for years to come.

The 22-year-old Pole has not made a single first-team appearance for Sunderland but is showing what he is all about on loan at National League club Eastleigh.

Stryjek saved a penalty on a dream debut for the Hampshire club and manager Andy Hessenthaler described him as ‘exceptional’ in quotes reported by the Echo.

Stryjek has continued that fine form since, keeping further clean sheets against Boreham Wood and Gateshead, meaning he has not conceded a single goal since moving into non-league.

As a result, he is a deserving winner of the club’s Player of the Month award, as reported by the Sunderland Echo.

Hessenthaler added that Stryjek has his heart set on the number one shirt at Sunderland. And do not rule out the youngster establishing himself on Wearside in the near future.
