Sunderland’s Dylan McGeouch comments on reported summer interest

Dylan McGeouch joined Jack Ross’s Sunderland in the summer transfer window.

Sunderland midfielder Dylan McGeouch has told The Scottish Sun that it was nice to hear that there were other clubs interested in him.

McGeouch joined Sunderland in the summer transfer window on a free after leaving Scottish Premiership side Hibernian at the end of last season.

According to The Scottish Sun, Rangers, Blackburn Rovers and Aberdeen all wanted to sign the former Celtic midfielder in the summer transfer window.

The 25-year-old midfielder has said that it was nice to hear that other clubs wanted to sign him in the summer.

McGeouch told The Scottish Sun: “There was talk of other clubs being interested in me in the summer and that was nice to hear. I knew I was moving on from Hibs so I spoke to my agent a lot to look at the options.

“There was a lot of talk in the papers about teams wanting to be kept posted about my situation without coming in with a firm offer.

“When a club like this comes in for you, you have to sit up and take notice. This is a massive football club and when I spoke to the gaffer I had a good feeling about it.”

Pushing for promotion

Sunderland suffered relegation from the Championship at the end of last season and are aiming to finish in the top two of League One this campaign.

The Black Cats are fourth in the League One table at the moment with 20 points from 11 matches, seven points behind leaders Portsmouth.

Jack Ross’s side will return to action on Saturday afternoon when they take on Bradford away from home at the Northern Commercials Stadium in League One.
