Sunderland first-team coach Andrew Taylor has left the club in order to become Leeds United’s new loan manager.

That’s according to Leeds Live, who claim that Taylor has traded the Stadium of Light for Elland Road.

Italian Simone Farina was Leeds’ loan manager before leaving the club in November 2020, and Taylor has finally been landed as the replacement.

Who is Andrew Taylor?

Taylor, 35, had a lengthy playing career, turning out for Middlesbrough and Cardiff City more than 100 times each.

The left back also played for the likes of Bradford City, Watford, Wigan Athletic and Reading before turning his hand to coaching.

Taylor became first-team coach at Sunderland under his former Bolton boss Phil Parkinson, and then took caretaker charge of the club in November 2020 when Parkinson lost his job.

What will Taylor’s job at Leeds entail?

Taylor will be in charge of the players Leeds loan out, maintaining channels of communication with the players and the clubs involved.

Leif Davis, Alfie McCalmont and Ryan Edmondson have been sent to Bournemouth, Morecambe and Fleetwood Town respectively, and Taylor will have to make sure those loans are going well.

Mateusz Bogusz and Kun Temenuzhkov arę both over in Spain, so Taylor will have to keep tabs on them too as they look to prove they have Leeds futures.
