Versatile Sunderland youngster has been very impressive in difficult circumstances.
2017 has been a miserable year for Sunderland, encompassing the club’s relegation to the Championship and continued struggles in the second tier.
However, one positive for the Black Cats this year has been the progress of George Honeyman, with the 23-year-old having established himself as a regular in the starting lineup.
Usually deployed on the right wing but also capable of playing on the opposite flank or as an attacking midfielder if required, Honeyman progressed all the way through the ranks at Sunderland’s academy, with his passion and hard-working nature always evident.
Honeyman has stood out at times this season even though many of Sunderland’s overall performances have been woeful and he is popular amongst the club’s supporters, who are delighted at the sight of an academy product establishing himself as an important part of the first-team squad.
2018 will hopefully bring better things for Sunderland in terms of results, but from a personal perspective Honeyman just needs to carry on working hard and he can continue to hold down a regular place in the side.
Honeyman relishes playing for Sunderland and it is anticipated that the prospect will continue to impress.
