The on-loan midfielder has starred for Sunderland’s League One rivals this season.

Sunderland were one of the clubs interested in Bradford City’s on-loan Huddersfield Town midfielder, Jack Payne, according to the Yorkshire Post.
However, Payne will not be heading to the Stadium of Light this month after Sunderland’s League One rivals reportedly agreed an improved deal with Huddersfield.
It is claimed that Bradford will contribute towards almost all of the 24-year-old’s Town wages until the end of the campaign, having paid less than half until now.
Payne, who was promoted from England’s third tier with Blackburn Rovers last term, has scored eight goals and set up four in this season’s competition and was recently linked with a £500,000 move to the Championship by the Sun.

And with his contract due to expire this summer – albeit with an extension option in Huddersfield’s favour, according to the Yorkshire Post – Sunderland would be wise to keep tabs on the former Southend United player, who has also spent time at Oxford United, the club supported by the Mackems’ owner, Stewart Donald.
Speaking on Twitter on Tuesday evening, Donald claimed Sunderland have ‘serious’ and ‘sensible’ offers on the table for new signings, but urged patience from the club’s fans as they ‘need [to get] the detail right’.
