League One hopefuls Sunderland are desperately searching for striking reinforcements ahead of Thursday’s transfer deadline and Evans is the latest name to emerge on their radar.
Sunderland have been frustrated in their attempts to sign Wigan forward Will Grigg and they have been linked with the likes of Doncaster’s John Marquis, Gillingham’s Tom Eaves and Fleetwood’s Paddy Madden, but they are now ready to switch their attentions to Sheffield United’s Evans.
Evans is currently on loan at Fleetwood Town and he has caught the eye at Highbury with 12 goals in 26 games.
