Welsh feels Moyes has been a positive influence on younger players at the club.
Sunderland’s under-23 coach Andy Welsh has said that manager David Moyes has been great for the younger players since his appointment at the club, the Sunderland Echo reports.
One or two younger players have been given regular first team games so far this season. Jordan Pickford has been the regular goalkeeper following an elbow injury to Vito Mannone, while Duncan Watmore is building on the experience he got from last season.

Joel Asoro appears to be knocking on the door for first team involvement, while Lyden Gooch has had some opportunities too.
Welsh is quoted in the Sunderland Echo, saying: “Since the manager has come in, he’s been brilliant with the young players.
“They’ve been training regularly and he’s obviously put some in the [first] team week-in, week-out. It’s moving very well.
“He’s fully behind everything we are trying to achieve. He’s given a lot of young players opportunities in the past.”

Given the spate of injuries the first team has had this season, he’s probably given more chances to younger players than he would have liked.
But if the first team players get back to fitness relatively soon, the onus will be on David Moyes to play his more experienced players in order to try and get the club out of their current predicament.
When the pressure is on, like it is at the Stadium of Light, then younger players may find their opportunities a little more limited, as Sunderland look to improve on their awful start of just two points from their opening 10 Premier League games.
