The Black Cats duo are February’s League One Manager of the Month and Player of the Month respectively.

Sunderland have announced a clean sweep of the League One monthly awards as Jack Ross won February’s Manager of the Month accolade and Aiden McGeady picked up the Player of the Month prize.
The Black Cats had a hectic schedule last month, which included five games in 15 days, but along with the earlier win over AFC Wimbledon, the 12 points Ross steered his side to from six unbeaten fixtures lifted them back into the automatic promotion picture.
McGeady was crucial in that run, scoring four goals in six games, and they were spread out fairly even too, over five games, and one of the Irishman’s efforts was especially top quality – his free kick at Bristol Rovers.
The Wearside outfit is a completely different beast from the one which suffered consecutive relegations and was in dire financial straits this summer – under the ownership of Stewart Donald, things are a lot more stable at the Stadium of Light.
On top of promotion to the Championship being a real possibility this term, Sunderland are also in a Wembley final, taking on Portsmouth in the Checkatrade Trophy showpiece, where fellow League One promotion-chasers Portsmouth await.
Here is how some Black Cats fans reacted to the club’s announcement on Twitter:
