HITC Sport understands Sunderland are ready to sign keeper to fend off interest from other clubs.
Sunderland are ready to offer trialist goalkeeper Robbin Ruiter a deal in a bid to secure his signature ahead of other interested clubs, HITC Sport understands from sources close to the club.
Free agent Ruiter has been training at Sunderland and has played in two pre-season friendlies as he looks to try and win himself a move to the Stadium of Light.
Ruiter has impressed in the 3-2 win over Bradord and the goalless draw with Scunthorpe and his performances have alerted other English clubs who are looking to bolster their goalkeeping options.
Burnley and Hull are both monitoring Ruiter’s situation as they look to strengthen their goalkeeping options and could rival Sunderland for the Dutchman’s signature.
The 30-year-old is a free agent after being released by Eredivisie side Utrecht at the end of last season following five years at the club.
Sunderland have recently signed Jason Steele from Blackburn Rovers to bolster their goalkeeping ranks, but Black Cats boss Simon Grayson is still looking to bring another keeper after seeing Jordan Pickford and Vito Mannone leave the club this summer.
It looks like Ruiter has done enough to impress Grayson and the club are keen to tie up his move as soon as possible to ward off interest from Ruiter’s other suitors.
