Sunderland were beaten 3-0 by Everton in the Carabao Cup last night.
James Vaughan has sent a message to Everton’s supporters for giving him a great reception yesterday.
Vaughan started up-front for Sunderland against Everton in the Carabao Cup last night, and he was given a rapturous ovation by the home crowd at Goodison Park.
Vaughan represented Everton for seven years, between 2004 and 2011, but injury rather hampered his progress on Merseyside.
And Vaughan was delighted to have such a clear message of appreciation sent to him by Everton’s supporters.
Vaughan was unable to help his new club Sunderland progress in the League Cup last night.
Sunderland lost 3-0 to Everton, and were largely outplayed during the contest.
Vaughan actually had the best chance for the Black Cats, but he fluffed his lines when well placed.
Dominic Calvert-Lewin netted twice and Oumar Niasse rounded off the scoring for Everton on the night.
