Sunderland have been linked with Reading stopper Jonathan Bond, who has just been dropped by Peterborough United.

According to The Sunday People (print edition, page 52, April 1, 2018), Sunderland want to solve their goalkeeping crisis by bringing in Jonathan Bond in the summer transfer window.
Bond could be available on a free transfer, with his contract at Reading due to expire at the end of the season.
However, the addition of Bond, would hardly be the most inspiring of signings for Sunderland.

Bond has been sent out on loan to Peterborough United this term, and he has looked nothing more than a middling League One stopper.
The 24-year-old has put in some sharp performances, but he has also made his fair share of errors over the course of the campaign.
Indeed, with Posh challenging for the play offs, Bond has recently lost his place in Steve Evans’ side’s starting line-up.

Evans has opted to replace Bond with the inexperienced Connor O’Malley in recent weeks, as the Reading loanee was making too many mistakes.
And if Sunderland are looking to find a more secure goalkeeping option for next term, then the omens are hardly the most promising that Bond is the right man to fill that role.
