Sunderland are said to be looking at the experience duo, as they look to strengthen their squad.

If Sunderland complete a double-deal for Jonathan Walters and Grant Leadbitter, they would start to develop a squad which could be one of the strongest ever seen in League One.
TeamTalk claim that Sunderland want Leadbitter, while the Daily Mirror (June 1st, page 56) suggest that Walters is also on Jack Ross’s radar.
And although the two players are reaching the twilight of their careers, they would go down as some of the most talented individuals in League One.

Walters has proven his quality at Premier League level in recent times, while Leadbitter played 32 times in the Championship last season.
Leadbitter would significantly strengthen Sunderland’s midfield ranks, and his combative streak and energy would help the Black Cats win the battle in the middle of the park.

Walters, meanwhile, would offer a great level of work rate – but he could also be a major goalscoring threat in the third tier.
Walters would have the quality to hit over 10 goals from out wide, if he was to arrive at the Stadium of Light.
And if Ross can seal the deal and bring in both Walters and Leadbitter, then Sunderland would take a step closer to promotion already.
