Sunderland should make a move for Sheffield Wednesday striker Sam Winnall, who is said to be available on loan.

The Sheffield Star claims that Wednesday are happy to allow Winnall to leave until the end of the season, and he could be a great fit at the Stadium of Light.

Sunderland are chasing a striker, as they look to replace Josh Maja, who has left for Bordeaux.

And there would be very few better options available to the Black Cats than Winnall.

The Wednesday man is a tireless worker, who has a proven track record of scoring goals in the Championship.

At League One level Winnall would instantly become one of the biggest threats in the division, and he would immediately make Jack Ross’ side more dangerous.

And if Wednesday are open to doing a deal for Winnall, then Sunderland should be trying to be at the head of the queue for his signature.
