Sunderland boss Jack Ross worked with Celtic’s Lewis Morgan last season.

Sunderland manager Jack Ross applauds the travelling fans during the FA Cup first round match between Port Vale and Sunderland on November 11, 2018 in Burslem, England.

Sunderland boss Jack Ross should try and reunite with Lewis Morgan in January, after his praise of the Celtic striker in the Sunderland Echo.

Sunderland boss Ross and Morgan worked together at St Mirren last season to great success.

Morgan won Ross’ side games single-handedly last term, and the Sunderland boss mentioned the forward in his comments recently.

He said: “I don’t know how many points Lewis Morgan won me last season. He was a matchwinner.

“If I was building a squad from scratch I would always want at least one of those, who can win you a match when it’s tight.”

And given Ross’ high regard of Morgan Sunderland should make a move for the Celtic man next month.

Sunderland could do with attacking additions, and Morgan has only had a limited impact at Celtic.

The youngster has generally been used as a rotational option for Brendan Rodgers side, with other options favoured.

A loan move could, therefore, suit all parties – and Ross would surely be delighted to bring his former match winner to the Stadium of Light.
