Sunderland should have used Wahbi Khazri far more often this season

Sunderland’s Wahbi Khazri has not started a Premier League match in 2017.

With Sunderland in desperate need of finding a creative influence, David Moyes’ failure to use Wahbi Khazri this season is utterly baffling.

Khazri was a vital part of Sunderland’s great escape last campaign, after he arrived at the Stadium of Light in January 2016.

It was expected that the Tunisian would have a big role to play for the Black Cats this term, but Moyes has continuously overlooked the 26-year-old.

While Moyes may argue that Khazri’s work rate is a concern, with Sunderland struggling so badly to score it is incomprehensible why he hasn’t bothered to give the wide-man a run of games.

Sunderland's Wahbi Khazri

Khazri has not made a Premier League start since way back in October last year, and he hasn’t played over 20 minutes in a match in 2017.

With Sunderland now surely doomed to relegation, it is too late for Khazri to play saviour once again.

But Sunderland fans are utterly baffled why Moyes has persistently chosen other options ahead of the former Bordeaux man – even though his side have been desperately poor going forward all campaign.
