The Estoril striker is in great form and could help fire Sunderland back to the top flight.

Sunderland have a busy summer ahead of them, whichever manager is destined to be at the helm, and one of the key areas that needs strengthening is up front, especially if Jermain Defoe leaves the Stadium of Light prior to the new campaign.

There will be plenty of striking options available to the Black Cats, but if they want to sign a player with top-flight experience – albeit in Portugal – they should pay close attention to Estoril front man Kleber.

The twice-capped Brazil international has been in superb form in recent months, scoring six goals in his last seven appearances, and with his contract having just a year to run he may be available for a cut-price fee is Sunderland do make a bold move for his services.

Considering his prolonged spell in Portugal, a move for the 27-year-old would be a risk, but Kleber has scored goals wherever he has been, including Estoril, Martimo and FC Porto.

He would no doubt jump at the chance to test himself in England, and he could excel in the Championship if he settles quickly and plays to his full potential.

There is no doubt the move would be risky, but Sunderland may have to take some risks in the short term to ensure their stay in the second tier is as brief as possible.
