Everton are said to be considering moving for Sunderland defender Lamine Kone in January.

According to the Daily Mirror, Sunderland have offered Lamine Kone to Everton in a £10 million deal, and if Sam Allardyce pays that figure then they should be laughing all the way to the bank.

Kone may have enjoyed a brilliant first six months at the Stadium of Light, but his form over the last year and a half has been woeful.

Kone has shown nothing to suggest that he is worth £10 million recently, and Sunderland would have to feel very satisfied with that transfer, if Everton were to offer it to them.

Sunderland need money to re-invest in their squad in the January transfer window, and Everton would be doing them a big favour by taking Kone.

The Toffees may not feel that £10 million is too big a fee to pay, considering their large transfer budget, but the price tag seems over-inflated.

If Allardyce could get Kone back to his best then Everton would be getting value for money, but given the Ivorian’s form in recent times, it would require a major turnaround for that to happen.
