Jack Ross’s Sunderland side are in a big battle to sign John McGinn from Hibernian this summer.

The paper suggests that Sunderland are now competing with West Ham United, Aston Villa, Celtic and Rangers for the central midfielder.
Sunderland now must arguably be considered the underdogs in the race for his signature, following their relegation to League One.

Hibs are said to be looking for at least £5 million for the 24-year-old, which would require the Black Cats to raise significant funds to sign anyway.
But if they can get a deal over the line, then Sunderland would highlight their ambition for the upcoming campaign.

New Sunderland owner Stewart Donald has promised Jack Ross significant funds to spend on his squad.
And if Sunderland are able to bring in Ross it is becoming a more impressive deal by the day, as interest mounts in the Scotland international.
