Goalkeeper Mariano Andujar is set to join Napoli from Catania and there are reports that he could immediately be loaned out to Sunderland
It appears that Catania goalkeeper Mariano Andujar is about to sign for Napoli but he may immediately pack his bags for a loan spell at Sunderland.
The Argentine ‘keeper has been a reported target for Premier League strugglers Sunderland for a while but Napoli were quicker to get in touch with Catania.
Catania appear to have accepted the offer and Andujar has indicated that he is wiling to move to the Stadio San Paolo, leaving the final details to be finalised, which should happen by Monday.
Napoli are looking to loan out Andujar for the rest of the season and could bring him back to base at the end of that period.
At present Andujar wouldn’t get a look-in at Napoli thanks to Pepe Reina and his solid back-up Brazilian goalkeeper Rafael.
Napoli may see Andujar as a valuable addition for next season if Reina either returns to Liverpool after his loan spell or signs for Barcelona.
