Sunderland will be hoping to move themselves out of the relegation zone in the Championship when they face Fulham.
Sunderland may still sit inside the relegation zone in the Championship, but Chris Coleman’s men will go into their clash with Fulham this weekend high on confidence after a fantastic result last time out.
Going into last weekend, Wolves had dropped points at Molineux on just two occasions all season, winning eight and drawing one – and with Nuno Espirito Santo’s men running away with the league right now, few would have expected anything other than a comfortable home win.
However, the Black Cats managed to keep Wolves at bay as the game ended in a goalless draw, despite the home side’s dominance and the fact that Lee Cattermole was sent off shortly after the hour-mark.
Given the spirit that the team showed on that occasion, it would be no surprise to see Coleman keep faith with the majority of the side that took on Wolves – of course, however, he will need to make at least one change.
With Cattermole suspended, it may not be a surprise to see Aiden McGeady come back into the starting lineup after he sat out the game against Wolves.
McGeady has struggled lately, but is definitely one of Sunderland’s most creative players, so he may return to the wing against the side that Coleman enjoyed a long association with as a player and manager.
Unfortunately for Sunderland, they simply do not have the depth to make a host of changes, especially when so many of their players are out injured, so it seems unlikely that Coleman will name a drastically different side, and McGeady coming in may be the only change he decides to make.
