The Italian is recovering from elbow ligament damage.
Sunderland’s Vito Mannone celebrates
Sunderland have posted a video online showing their goalkeeper Vito Mannone working on his return from injury.
The Italian stopper was ruled out for three months at the end of August after tearing the ligaments in his elbow during training. The injury was seen as a big blow for Sunderland, who again look like having another tough season in the Premier League.
Sunderland’s Vito Mannone warms up before the game
But Mannone is clearly stepping up his recovery, as the official Sunderland Twitter account attempted to demonstrate earlier today.
They posted this video of the Italian working on his recovery from the injury problem:
There is no doubt the return of Mannone will be a boost for Sunderland, but he will certainly face a fight to get straight back in the Sunderland first-team upon his return from injury.
Sunderland’s Jordan Pickford
England under-21 international Jordan Pickford has stepped in to his vacant spot and performed brilliantly for David Moyes and will not be ready to just give away his starting spot to the returning Mannone.
It looks as though, a little way down the line, Moyes will have a big decision to make in the goalkeeping department.
