Duncan Watmore played well for Sunderland against Blackpool on Tuesday.

Sunderland manager Jack Ross has told The Northern Echo what Duncan Watmore’s ideal position is.
Watmore is a winger by trade, but the 24-year-old was deployed in a free-attacking role against Blackpool at the Stadium of Light in League One on Tuesday evening.
The former England Under-21 international played well for the Black Cats, as the match finished in a 1-1 draw.
Sunderland manager Ross has spoken highly of the 24-year-old, and has suggested what his ideal role is.
Ross told The Northern Echo: “The other night, we asked to play in a half-and-half position, and that for me is probably his ideal role. I think he enjoys it the most as well.
“It’s been difficult for us to do that because of personnel and what we had available. The other night was the first time we’ve really been able to utilise him in the area of the pitch we thought would be the best for him.
“To his credit, the things we asked him to do from there, he did very well, and you could see how much he helped us.”

Promotion push
Watmore has made just two starts and six substitute appearances in League One for Sunderland so far this season, according to WhoScored, as the winger continues his rehabilitation from successive cruciate ligament operations.
Sunderland are fourth in the League One table at the moment with 58 points from 30 matches, 10 points behind leaders Luton Town, who have played 32 games.
The Black Cats will return to action on Friday evening when they take on Accrington Stanley at the Stadium of Light in League One.
