Methven has said that the potential new owners of Newcastle will have to have a “thick skin” if they are to work in the world of football.
According to Goal.com, Saudi Arabia’s Public Investment Fund are on the verge of buying the Magpies from current owner Mike Ashley.
Methven told Bloomberg: “You need a thick skin.”
The Sunderland co-owner added that it’s “a profound culture shock for people who haven’t been inside a football environment.”
Staying positive
Newcastle are a massive club and are well established in the Premier League.
The St. James’ Park faithful have been calling for a change of ownership for a while now, and the fans must be delighted with the prospect of having someone other than Ashley in charge of the club.
While no one should expect a radical change at the club regarding the playing staff, especially amid the economic uncertainty caused by the global health crisis, after next two or three transfer windows, with the right investment, the Magpies could be challenging for the Europa League places.
Football in England is suspended at the moment due to the global health crisis.
