It is claimed that Sunderland would compete with Besiktas for Vida’s signing in January.

Turkish website Milliyet reported in September that Sunderland will compete with Besiktas for the free transfer signing of Domagoj Vida in January.
The Dynamo Kiev centre-back’s contract expires at the end of 2017, allowing him to move freely in the New Year.
Sunderland’s interest in Vida was first reported by the Mirror last August, while still a Premier League club. It is claimed the Mackems offered £6 million to acquire the Croatian international’s services, but Dynamo stood firm on their £10 million valuation.

Now bottom of the Championship and managerless, it is hard to imagine Sunderland will fare better this time around. And if their predicament wasn’t deterrent enough, interest appears to be mounting in Vida.
According to Croatian news outlet 24 Sata, Everton and AC Milan have already offered him a contract. And they are unlikely to be the only ones keen on a 28-year-old international of 51 caps and available for nothing.
Even a promotion-chasing Sunderland would perhaps struggle to compete.
