Leeds United should join Sunderland in the race for Manchester City starlet Lukas Nmecha.
The 19-year-old, who was part of England’s World Cup winning Under 19 squad, is a player of great potential. He has recently made his City debut in last month’s EFL Cup quarter-final clash with Leicester City, and is highly rated at the Manchester club.
However, with City possessing some of the world’s finest players, it will be hard for young Nmecha to break into the first team, although it won’t be far away if he keeps on playing at this level.
A loan move to a Championship club would be ideal for his development, and that is why Leeds United should make a move for him in January.
The Whites have been busy in the January transfer window, and have signed five players already. However, Thomas Christiansen should still explore the opportunity of signing a forward, and certainly Nmecha ticks all the boxes.
Nmecha’s record in City’s academy side has been impressive. He has scored eight goals in just seven games for City’s Under-23 team in the Premier League 2 this season displaying a fine blend of power, pace and skill.
He would be a risk-free signing, but one that could turn out to be a master-stroke from manager Thomas Christiansen.
