The Black Cats veteran was asked how Ross rated alongside the other manager’s he’s worked for.

Sunderland ace Lee Cattermole has spoken about a team initiative led by manager Jack Ross which he says “people don’t notice” when they go to opposition stadiums.
The 31-year-old has been with the Black Cats since 2009, joining the Wearside club from Wigan Athletic, and has made 254 appearances for them, scoring nine goals and registering 11 assists according to Transfermarkt.
Given he is a Stadium of Light veteran, Cattermole has seen plenty of managers come and go through thick and thin at the club, and in conversation with Chronicle Live, he was asked to rate Ross alongside the other managers he has worked with.
“Jack Ross is right up there with them all,” replied Cattermole. “He brings a newer, younger approach, he is very hands on, out on the training pitch.
“Little things, like cleaning the dugouts and the dressing rooms at every ground before we leave. Little things people don’t notice, we have always left every ground tidy. That doesn’t always happen, when other clubs come to our stadium.”

Cattermole was speaking ahead of Sunday’s Checkatrade Trophy final at Wembley Stadium, which will pit the Black Cats against League One promotion rivals Portsmouth.
Sunderland, in their first season under Ross, currently sit fourth in the table, 10 points adrift of top placed Luton Town, but they have two games on hand on the three teams above them.
The Black Cats will not return to league action until Wednesday 3 April, with a game to Accrington Stanley on the cards – the first of a frantic end to the season as the Black Cats play their final nine matches in the space of just 32 days.
