The Black Cats signed the goalkeeper earlier in July.

New Sunderland goalkeeper Lee Burge has taken to Twitter with a message for the Black Cats fanbase in which he raved about his first full week at the club and said he was looking forward to Thursday’s pre-season friendly against South Shields.
Last week, the 26-year-old stopper put pen to paper in a two-year deal at the Stadium of Light (official club website) following his release by Coventry City, having come through the ranks at the West Midlands club before opting for a new challenge elsewhere.
With Sunderland having released both Robbin Ruiter and Max Stryjek this summer, Jack Ross moved in to snap up Burge, who looks as though he will be in line to provide competition for last term’s player of the season Jon McLaughlin.
Here is what Burge wrote on the social media platform, with some fans wishing him well in response:
Sunderland face fellow North East side South Shields on Thursday evening at Mariners Park before taking on Benfica B and Belenenses in Albufeira and wrapping up their pre-season programme against Dutch side Heerenveen at the Stadium of Light (official Black Cats website).
