Sunderland goalkeeper Lee Burge has taken to Twitter with a message praising the Black Cats fans and his teammates following their superb 3-1 win at Burnley in the second round of the Carabao Cup.

The Stadium of Light outfit came from behind at Turf Moor to seal a place in the third round of the competition and take a Premier League scalp along the way thanks to goals from Will Grigg, Tom Flanagan and George Dobson.

Burge put in a solid display in between the sticks for Sunderland on the night and, although it could be argued that he could have done better against Jay Rodriguez for his opener, he did pull off several smart saves in the second half.

The summer signing took to Twitter with the following eight-word message hailing Sunderland’s comeback and the atmosphere made by the Wearside fans, and a number of Black Cats fans took the time to respond and praise him for his efforts and kind words:

Up next for Sunderland is their League One trip to Peterborough United, while in the next of the Carabao Cup they face Premier League Sheffield United at Bramall Lane.
