Jeremain Lens is one of Sunderland’s most disappointing transfer flops.

The Black Cats paid £8 million for the winger, and saw only three league goals as a return on their investment.

It is a little bizarre then, that as Sunderland try and fight their way out of England’s third tier, Lens has got his mojo back in Turkey.

He is currently playing for Besiktas, after a loan spell, and last night he scored in their Europa League win.

Lens netted along with Ryan Babel as Besiktas won 3-1 against Norwegian side Sarpsborg.

It caps an impressive start to the season for Lens, who starred during the Europa League qualifying stages.

Lens has now scored twice and provided three assists in five Europa League games this season for Besiktas, contributing an average of a goal per game.

The Dutch winger also has two assists in three Turkish Super Lig games this season.

After his Sunderland woes, Lens is beginning to finally look like the player the Black Cats decided to spend the money on.
